So I tend to not to agree with rangers (or any other class) that a specific build is superior to all others or other professions quantitatively in damage output.

I don't think results from Glaiveway would be a good reason to draw such a conclusion. DwG being OP enough that specific professions don't matter doesn't necessarily mean that there are no optimal builds in other areas of the game (sorry if this sentence sounds awkward).

That's 'cause everyone agrees that degeneration is inefficient, so it doesn't need to be discussed. If there are any comments regarding degeneration in PvE, they're usually just short sentences acknowledging that everyone agrees it's a bad tactic.

That's 20 dps per target (and that's only for 3 seconds, then it's 14 dps). To get dps close to a turret build (for 3 seconds), you would have to condition your target and hit another 7+ targets with epidemic, which won't happen. After that, your dps will only decrease over time. Also, many mobs are immune to fleshy conditions and things like destroyers and titans are immune to burning.

and another thing ranger have that not many other classes have is the fact they can run many other support builds just as good as the main class support builds

What support builds are you running on a ranger? All the ranger imitations I know of (SoS, daggerspam, sycthe) are significantly less effective than their legit counterparts.
Anyways, I'd rather be optimal at a few things than mediocre at many. Versatility is what character slots are for. One class shouldn't be made subpar at a wide variety of things just for people who are too lazy to reroll.
